MAKOplasty®

MAKO Surgical Corp. is committed to excellence in educational activities that will provide the necessary elements for a productive and successful experience with MAKO products.

MAKOplasty® Education Program Objectives

MAKO offers interactive on-site and BioSkills educational programs. Upon completion, surgeons will be able to do the following:

  • Identify patients for MAKOplasty® knee and hip procedures
  • Use the advanced three-dimensional, patient-specific, intelligent, computer assisted planning tools, and tactile robotic arm to accurately prepare the patient anatomy to accept the RESTORIS® Family of Knee and Hip Implant Systems
  • Appreciate how MAKOplasty® and RIO® robotic arm technology can establish and advance an Orthopedic Center of Excellence

BioSkills Training

Our BioSkills Training course will enable you to collaborate in a peer-to-peer setting with experienced MAKOplasty® surgeons. In each lab you will obtain shared best practices in patient care, case study analysis, outcomes, and robotic arm assisted surgical techniques.

The hands-on cadaveric sessions will provide an opportunity to experience the power of the pre- and intra-operative intelligent, patient-specific, computer assisted, 3-D planning software that allows you to execute an accurate implant alignment and machine boned optimal fixation each and every time.

Surgeon Education Requirement

To ensure a Center of Excellence model, MAKO Surgical Corp. requires surgeons to be trained on the RIO® System and application(s) prior to performing a MAKOplasty® procedure.

Recognizing the importance of meeting each surgeon’s individual learning style, skill set, expertise, and available time, MAKO is offering two educational programs:

  • Hospital, on-site training
  • Surgeon led BioSkills training
