Job Description:

On a day-to-day basis the Systems Engineer (SE) provides design, configuration, support and maintenance to vendor-supplied software and integrated computer data systems. The core responsibility includes the integration of software across multiple systems. This position is responsible for assisting in the design and implementing system solutions across multiple departments and serves in key technical roles throughout the vendor-supplied software lifecycle. The SE acts as a liaison with the business community to ensure continuing responsiveness of applicable system software, providing technical assistance and training to users, and providing after hours call support. The SE is responsible for working on projects to enhance or replace existing applications and build or implement new software applications.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Completes technical implementation and migration of upgrades, patches, code releases and database changes for the applicable enterprise applications.
  • Create and maintain documentation of existing system configurations.
  • Develop and provide training to users for applicable systems.
  • Ensure that solutions are error-free and well tested, meeting user requirements.
  • Interact with user community, infrastructure team and managers to support the applications, resolve issues, and recommend strategic application growth.
  • Other duties as assigned
Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Ability to gather, understand, document, translate and implement existing business processes into system processes.
  • Analyze business requirements and develop design specifications and test plans to meet those requirements.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies and provide recommendations for strategic application growth.
Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree with minimum of 3 years experience installing, implementing, and supporting business applications in a Windows-based environment.
  • Familiarity with an array of business technologies (operating systems, security, networking, programming, databases, etc.) required to troubleshoot basic operating, security and networking issues that could impact the application, performance and/or user access.
  • Extensive working knowledge of CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems.
  • Knowledge of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems is a plus.
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Management Studio, installation, configuration, DTS, BCP, database backups/restores, stored procedures and database maintenance.
  • Experience with Crystal Reports and/or Microsoft SSRS, including the ability to create custom reports.
  • Experience with Project Management and methodologies for successful product delivery.
  • Familiar with change control processes.
  • Possess strong problem solving skills and customer service attitude and focus. Be able to follow-up with managers, peers, and customers on all projects and efforts.
  • A motivated self-starter that is able to work independently and in teams on tasks and projects with limited supervision.
  • Direct experience with Expandable (ERP), Sage SalesLogix (CRM) and SmarTeam (PLM) enterprise systems is desired.
  • Capable of multi-tasking, working within deadlines, and possess a strong aptitude for learning.
  • Excellent analytical/troubleshooting skills.
  • Must have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
