System Engineer

Job Description:
The System Engineer (SE) will use their engineering and management skills to drive system integration activities. As MAKO expands its portfolio of applications, the SE will act as a liaison between the software, robot, implants and sales/marketing groups to implement customer requirements throughout the product development process. The SE will support the continuous improvement of MAKO's commercial product line with emphasis on system accuracy, reliability, usability and improved patient outcome.
Departmental Responsibilities:
- Achieve an in-depth understanding of the MAKO system, subsystems, architecture and clinical application. Develop an excellent understanding of user needs from a clinical perspective by attending surgeries and maintaining regular contacts with surgeons and product management/marketing team.
- Support the engineering releases of MAKO applications to ensure projects’ delivery according to scope, timeline, quality and customer satisfaction requirements.
- Support the Rapid Response Program and CAPA/Complaints Management processes by investigating root causes and implementing solutions.
- Collaborate with the System Integration Team members and Director of Design on human factors projects intended to improve system usability and the MAKO user experience.
- Coordinate the clinical evaluations of new products.
- Assist in product management, clinical research and training activities as required.
- Provide technical support for the marketing and sales group as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor in engineering or related science.
- Minimum 5 years experience in surgical navigation or medical device product development.
- Experience in orthopeadics.
