Job Description:

The Software Quality Engineer will provide quality assurance and testing support to the software development team throughout the software development lifecycle. The SQE will manage the risk analysis activities for new and modified applications, create test plans to assure appropriate test coverage, review software requirements for appropriateness and promote a software quality culture. The SQE will develop and maintain automated and manual test scripts, administrate the bug tracking system and assist the software development team with completing required quality documentation.

Responsibilities:

• Develop test plans that address all critical features and functions of a software project.
• Facilitate the software risk analysis activity with the software development team.
• Analyze and edit software requirements to ensure they are clear and achievable.
• Responsible for administering the bug tracking system to ensure all high risk software components and bugs are tracked to a satisfactory resolution.
• Participate in software design reviews and code walk-through during development.
• Design, code, test and execute automated test scripts that are well structured, well documented and address all key points of functionality and performance. Increase and improve test coverage.
• Coordinates the creation and execution of test cases to verify and validate the correct functionality, usability, performance and reliability of systems and applications. Maintain the test traceability matrix.
• Introduce / implement software development processes in support of the MAKO Software Development Life Cycle. Support quality system maintenance as it relates to software.
• Develop, monitor and review software quality metrics to identify opportunities for correction or prevention of software issues. Analyze test results and assist with root cause determination to resolve software issues.
• Develop quality assurance documentation to support regulatory submissions.
• Evaluate software changes for impact to verification and validation activities and define / execute regression testing to assure no new defects are introduced.
 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field. Masters is a plus.
• Working knowledge of Linux/Unix.
• Five (5) years experience in software quality assurance and testing.
• Demonstrated experience in the following: code review, software testing methods, test plan development, software risk analysis and software development practices.
• Experience in a regulated software development environment desirable.
• Knowledge of scripting languages (i.e. Tcl) desirable.
• Knowledge of IEEE and ISO software development standards is desirable.
• Experience using Windows, Microsoft Office, and Outlook.
• ASQ Certification: Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE) is a plus.
