Regional MAKOplasty Specialist

Position Description:
Responsible for launching new accounts through working with the Account Executive and Regional Clinical Sales Manager in the final stages of the sale to ensure flawless execution of the launch matrix. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: training surgeon(s) and hospital staff, setting up CT protocols and consignment. Will be the point person for all account related issues until an assigned MAKOplasty Specialist is placed.
Regional Responsibilities:
- Leads Account Launches, partnering with Regional Clinical Sales Manager, Account Executive, Training Department and Field Service to ensure the highest level of customer service and satisfaction
- Actively engages additional surgeons to be trained and sells clinical advantages of RIO System
- Partners with newly assigned MAKOplasty Specialist as the clinical expert during initial cases to ensure optimal OR flow
- Champions Roadshows and Sales Demonstrations as secondary responsibility
Clinical Support:
- Uses proprietary software to prepare pre operative CT scans for use in conjunction with the company's robotic arm system, assists surgeon in pre-operative implant planning, implant sizing and positioning
- Provides surgeons and operating room staff with support in the operation of the company's RIO® robotic arm system and associated equipment and instruments
- Provides complete reports and associated metrics to management, direct supervisor and company's regulatory department detailing case reviews, services performed and recommendations for product, documentation and methodology improvements
- Maintains and controls local MAKO consigned equipment, instrument, implant and disposables inventories, processes sales orders and provides forecast input to regional account manager(s)
- Supports company road-show demonstrations and 'Showsite' visits to provide potential customers with opportunity to see product in use and appreciation of clinical value
- In conjunction with Clinical Training Manager and Regional Account Manager, trains physicians and hospital personnel, including OR staff, radiology and central sterile processing on the use of the RIO® System, accessories, disposables and implants
- Provides daily communications with customers to ensure resolution and proper follow-up, leading to high customer satisfaction via FDA complaint and / or service report systems
- Provides customer requirements to product manager for new designs and supports associated design & product documentation reviews
- Supports clinical affairs manager on MAKO clinical studies to ensure they are executed appropriately and that all data is collected and communicated in a timely manner while respecting all aspects of HIPAA regulations; also supports product evaluation surveys and KCE (Knee Center of Excellence) agreements.
- Provide case coverage at other accounts as needed.
Sales Support:
- Work with senior hospital staff and key surgeons in the development and execution of a plan to effectively increase implant/procedural volume at customer sites.
- Collaborate with marketing to increase public awareness.
- Effectively convert high potential leads and drive training activities.
- As they become available, introduce new implant systems and applications to surgeons to grow volume of procedures using MAKO products at the account.
- Responsibly manage administrative tasks; reporting of sales/procedures, outcomes of sales activities, submission of expense reports, etc.
Requirements:
- BS/BA Degree with a minimum of five years experience in a medical sales capacity
- Proven track record in sales, preferably with a surgical medical device company
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of the Operating Room environment / orthopedics preferred
- Ability to operate a PC and use Windows based software
- Ability to work in a team oriented environment
- Self-motivated / directed, detail oriented and a proven history of ability to make independent decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment
- Ability to travel up to 100%
