Product Manager, Knee Arthroplasty

Job Description:
Will support the Product Management team in defining the direction of MAKO Surgicals growth in the Knee Arthroplasty market space. Will be responsible for gathering and prioritizing customer requirements, supporting the product vision, and working closely with engineering, sales and marketing to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met.
Product Development:
- Identifies, defines and presents new and existing product development opportunities and strategies to management. This includes building a business case.
- Generates Customer Requirement specifications for products in alignment with the requirements of MAKOs Product Development process SOPs.
- In conjunction with Clinical Training Manager, Sales Management and members of the Implant Development Team, assists in the development of clinical training materials and curriculum as part of the product development and launch process.
- Actively participates in product development programs and meets on a regular basis with project level leader teams to support the overall efforts of releasing products in alignment with the program plan.
- Suggests to the Sr. Product Manager the surgeon advisors who may be a best fit to execute clinical evaluations and testing of new implants as part of the design validation process.
- In collaboration with the Sr. Product Manager and Implant Development teams , selects and nominates Design Advisory Board Members. Utilizes the expertise and design capabilities of the DAB to develop new products.
- Responsible for facilitating surgeon interaction and/or visits with the implant development team.
- Collaborates with the Sr. Product Manager and Director of Clinical Research in defining needs for clinical studies (both PMA and post 510k) as required.
- Ensures deliverables of Product Management are performed within Quality System and in compliance with MAKOs Business Conduct policy.
Market Analysis:
- Develops and maintains market information system
- Researches, analyzes, and remains informed about competitive products
- Develops and refines Price Strategy and Competitive Pricing/Share Analysis
Product Launches and Sales Support:
- Authors the Marketing Launch Plan to include timing for release, forecasting, internal and external clinical and sales training.
- Captains and coordinates the launch execution of assigned development projects in conjunction with all members of the program and implant development team leadership.
- In conjunction with marketing communications and sales management, defines the overall needs for sales collateral, product specification data sheets, sales training and sales tools. This includes the coordination of MAKOs DAB members to support in the development of any such material.
Other Duties:
- Develops and delivers sales training materials as needed, in particular around product launches.
- Visits and spends time with MAKO customers on a regular basis with an emphasis on attending surgical cases.
- Attends clinical meetings and trade shows.
- Assists Marketing, as needed, in overall convention strategies and goals.
- Supports Sr. Product Manager in CAPA reviews and makes recommendations for the prioritization of field issues.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors in Business/ Marketing or Science/Engineering Related Discipline
- 3+ years of technical or marketing experience in medical device industry with joint arthroplasty experience required
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, manage and execute on several marketing projects simultaneously
- Proficient in multiple computer based tools (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Knowledge of regulatory issues in medical device industry
- Proven ability to handle complex negotiations and experience with senior level managers and surgeons
- Strong analytic marketing knowledge and experience
- Ability to travel up to 40%
