Principal Reliability Engineer

Position Description:
- As an individual contributor, lead the Reliability Engineering function at MAKO, including design for reliability (DFR) and establishment and monitoring of reliability metrics.
- Develop the predictive reliability models and validate the models through component reliability data and in-house reliability testing conducted in partnership with the functional groups.
- Evaluate and analyze parts, standard components, and custom designs (e.g., hardware, peripherals, devices, and other types of electronic equipment) for the purpose of predicting failures.
- Investigate failures and failure rates; Research and develop solutions for reducing and mitigating the effects of failures.
- Write and implement Reliability Plans in including associated Reliability Test protocols and reports.
- Work with Functional Managers to design for reliability in all new products, leading reliability prediction efforts.
- Coach engineers and functional managers on DFR methods and processes.
- Uphold the quality policies of the company;
- Reports to Director of RIO Platform Development;
Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and minimum 10 years experience in reliability engineering or MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and minimum 7 years experience in reliability engineering.
- Expertise in the following disciplines and processes: Reliability Prediction Analysis, Reliability Modeling, FMEA, Stress Analysis / Derating Analysis, and Reliability Growth Modeling.
- Demonstrated knowledge of reliability engineering principles, including reliability prediction, failure rate allocation, electrical component stress analysis and de-rating principles, FMEA, and reliability growth models.
- Proven track record for UL / CSA / CE safety and EMC certification of medical devices.
- Knowledge of design control methods to support FDA 21 CFR 820 regulations and ISO 13485 standard.
- Proven leadership, project organization, and communication skills.
